9=12 NEW HOUSING IN VIENNA is a project that continues in the tradition of classical Viennese housing development and that is to represent a milestone in the history of architecture. Like the Werkbundsiedlung estate in the 13th District, built in 1932, 12 apartment buildings are to be erected that are as advanced as they will prove enduring in their effects. Following Krischanitz's work on the basis for the urban development, and based on one masterplan, the buildings were designed by 9 European architects: Peter Märkli (Zurich), Adolf Krischanitz (Vienna), Hans Kollhoff (Berlin), Otto Steidle (Munich), Marcel Meili and Markus Peter (Zurich), Roger Diener (Basle), Heinz Tesar (Vienna), Max Dudler (Berlin), Hermann Czech (Wien). In the exhibition 9=12 NEW HOUSING IN VIENNA the designs are presented in the form of plans and models, with sample concrete elements giving an indication of the realised form that the projects will take.
